Expert review
All content goes through an editorial workflow: draft → editorial review → expert review → publication. The review status is shown on every page. Currently 0 of 175 items are expert-verified; the rest are editorial drafts awaiting review.
Passages we are unsure about are marked ⁂ with a note for the reviewer. We never invent citations: if we do not know the exact location in a source, we leave the citation out.
Each passage distinguishes historical fact, biblical text, halakhah, minhag, folk custom, modern practice and interpretation. No community practice is assumed to be universal.
Copyright and licensing
All texts are original. Classical Hebrew liturgical texts are in the public domain; prayer translations are our own. Recipes are our own write-ups; origin and licence are recorded for every item.
Food photographs, illustrations and stickers (such as the holiday icons) are created with artificial intelligence to our brief. They are illustrations, not documentary images: they do not depict real people, places or families, and dishes may look different at home. We do not use other people’s photographs.
Calendar calculations use the open-source Hebcal library (@hebcal/core, GPL-2.0), which runs on the server only.
Privacy: we store nothing about you
We do not collect any lists or personal records. There are no accounts, no sign-in, no analytics and no tracking or advertising cookies.
The website does not store any of your lists, bookmarks or notes. Saving and a shopping list are being prepared for a separate app.
The one exception is the location and community setting for the calendar: if you save it yourself, a technical cookie remembers it so the server can calculate times for your place. Without saving, no cookie is created.
